Ken is the Executive Director of the Regal Chess School Miami which runs chess clubs in 18 local public, parochial, and private schools in Miami. This is his 29th year directing youth chess clubs. Ken is also the Director of The Miami Chess Club and has coached numerous individual State and National Champions.

While helping you to win at chess, we also focus on having fun and good sportsmanship. We look forward to working with you on your chess endeavors.

Coach FIDE Master Alejandro Garcia grants vital importance to the understanding of the basic strategic fundamentals, the detailed analysis of the games and the development of tactical skills, pattern recognition and calculation of variations. Always combining theoretical study with practice. Coach Garcia is a Chessmaster and teaches chess at private and public schools in Miami. Alejandro also teachers  one on one lessons in person and online worldwide! He even has a student from down under in Australia.

Coach Rey is a graduate from Pinecrest Preparatory High School. He is a high rated USCF Tournament player and Tournament Director. You will see him at True North Chess Tournaments. He enjoys teaching chess to youth. Rey also teaches chess at numerous private schools, Miami Parks and Rec., and the West Kendall Regional Library on Saturdays.

Coach Tyara enjoys working with youth. She has experience as a full time preschool and aftercare teacher. She has also tutored Elementary students in English. Coach Ailén Mena

I am WFM & FIDE National Instructor Ailén Mena, 24 years old. Youngest WFM of the Netherlands Antilles, 6-time National Champion, and 5 time Olympic Team Member. I represented Venezuela (where I was born) in different International tournaments, such as Central Americans and Panamericans.

In 2013 I moved to Curacao (Netherlands Antilles), and achieved some goals, such as:

• National Champion for 6 consecutive years (2012-2018) 
• 5 times Netherlands Antilles Olympic Team Member (2014,2016,2018) and (2020, 2021 hybrid) My best tournament was my first Olympiad in Norway 2014, where I scored 7.5/11 points and got my WFM title, becoming the youngest WFM of the country. 
  

Coach Mike Tinsley

Coach Mike gives in person and virtual chess lessons while being the lead instructor at numerous after school chess programs.

• You will be introduced to the rules of chess; for example, en passant.
